Stewie sets down to watch a The Fast and the Furious marathon and Brian tries to join him, but gets annoyed with his running chatter with Rupert and steps out to a bar. Stewie goes to bed and awakens to find a drunken Brian has chewed Rupert to pieces and breaks off his friendship. When Brian finds out that Stewie is heading off to Vermont to scatter Rupert's ashes from the summit of Mount Mansfield at Smugglers' Notch State Park, he tags along to keep an eye on him.
Stewie becomes irritated even more and their confrontation becomes physical, which leads Brian to reveal that his destruction of Rupert wasn't an accident. This infuriates Stewie but their fight ends with him falling down the side of a cliff and twisting his ankle to the point he could not walk. Brian builds a litter to cart him along to the top of the mountain where they open up their feelings, as Stewie's constant attention to Rupert annoys Brian while he in turn is concerned about Brian's advanced age taking him away in the not-so-distant future. They reach the summit and scatter his ashes, and are able to bond again after doing so. Picking up a rental car for the trip home, Brian stops at a vintage toy store when Stewie sleeps. That night, Brian slips in with a new Rupert for Stewie, who welcomes his old friend back.
